Good health, now Malaysia Star
We need to make drastic changes to improve the health of all Malaysians.
TODAY I would like to give a holistic perspective to our Prime Minister’s new slogan for the nation: 1Malaysia – People First – Performance Now. While “1Malaysia” gives the impetus for our unity and national pride, “People First” rightly emphasises that everything depends on the people’s resolve to unite, live, work, and prosper together, and that the present government gives priority to the rakyat’s welfare and wellbeing.
“Performance Now” must be a call to both the public and private sectors to improve their discipline, integrity, and productivity to achieve better results so that we can excel in this competitive world.
We have for a long time been bogged down by the lackadaisical “tidak apa” attitude, aptly described by the previous PM as “having first class infrastructure, but third class mentality”.
I would like to propose that the slogan be broadened so that it can be applied to various aspects of our lives. Since this is a health column, I will start with the possibility of using it to improve the health of the citizens.
